The University of Georgia Griffin campus recently welcomed four new students for the Pike County High School STEM Internship program for the 2024-2025 school year. This year, Sidney Barker, Katelyn Johnson, Erin Levin and Harrison Pugh will be conducting research with faculty mentors, working in both labs and out in the field on campus.

The UGA Griffin Campus STEM Internship Program is done in collaboration with the Pike County STEM Academy, the first agriculture focused STEM Program in the state. It is designed to prepare high school seniors for post- secondary education and future careers in the STEM field. Students participate in an unpaid internship on campus, complete 100 research internship hours each semester and deliver an oral presentation on their work in the fall and in the spring.
