Meet The Authors: Charles Young and Cheryl Young
Dr. Charlie Young has been active as a physician/eye surgeon, writer, artist, vice president of the music company Denton and Haskins, creator of the radio podcast series Unheard of Jazz and most recently writer of the historical fiction Houdini’s Last Handcuffs which he co-authored with his sister Cheryl Young. By profession, Charlie trained as a physician receiving his formal medical education at New York University, The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and Louisiana State University. He is an author, artist, and Vice President of music publishing companies: Denton and Haskins and Life Music. He has previously published poetry, Chuck’s Wagon of Verses, and Houdini’s Last Handcuffs is his first foray into the world of writing historical fiction. Houdini’s Last Handcuffs is Cheryl Young’s debut novel co-authored with her brother. Raised and educated in Manhattan, she earned an MBA from Columbia University. In addition to a career in finance Cheryl is also a board member of the Finch College Alumni Foundation Trust, which focuses on awarding grants to tri-state area community college women continuing on for a four-year degree. Cheryl divides time between the cosmopolitan life of Miami and rural life in Essex Connecticut. Cheryl Young Deknatel is active in the financial industry where she has worked for over 40 years both in Europe and the USA. She has previously worked with leading Wall Street firms and European banking institutions, and she currently serves as a financial advisor. She and her brother are currently working on a sequel. In addition, together, they also own one of the oldest turn-of-the-century music publishers in the USA, Denton and Haskins.
